Some people never cease to amaze me with what the come up with. I know this technology has been out for a bit, but I’ve never seen it in accomplished this easy. Using the jQuery framework, the Spritely jQuery plugin allows you to create stunning animated backgrounds with ease. The author of the plugin Artlogic has created a very nice API that allows one to create multiple panning backgrounds, animated images, and drag and drop elements.  This is all powered by jQuery and CSS, no Flash required.
