Today I met with the local running club to run the Tuesday track session. I haven’t ran intervals in a few weeks. I’ve been trying to stick to our half ironman training schedule, so our interval runs have been few and far between. We ran 1.5mi warm up to the track, then did 4 x 800m with a lap recovery, then a 2.25mi cool down on the way back. I forgot what it felt like to run intervals. It’s a sickening but accomplishing feeling that’s for sure. I remember training for my first Marathon last year and how I built up to 10 x 800’s. I feel like I am in better shape now than I was back then, but the intervals don’t feel any easier, and after 4 I’m beat. I wasn’t able to keep track of my splits this morning because my watch is still dead. It’s very difficult to run effective intervals when you don’t know how fast or slow you’re going; pacing purely on feeling.

I am not quite sure what is on the agenda tomorrow. I think I’m going to plan on doing a long swim if I don’t hear from someone before I hit the sack tonight.
